Naruto Chapter 472 – Once you go black, you never go back

naruto-retro1Post Author: Bob

Chapter 472 was a really interesting chapter. I don’t think anyone could have foreseen Kisame’s sword actually turning on him for Killerbee! I actually got a good laugh when I saw Kisame punt the poor Samehada out of anger, LOL. In all, I was really glad Kishi decided to finally devote an entire chapter to this battle instead of trying to squeeze one or two other plot lines inside these 17 pages as well. Honestly, he should see this battle to its conclusion before moving on anything else, but that’s just my opinion.

From the look of the conclusion of this chapter, it seems the battle is already near its end. This is pretty disappointing as there wasn’t any real fighting between Kisame and Killerbee at all. It took all this time for Kisame to finally reveal his shark-man form, but we don’t get to see any of his new abilities before it’s all over — hence I feel a bit ripped off for having to wait a whole week for this. Also, you can’t call this a real battle since Killerbee couldn’t fight at all because the raccoon and the enka guy were in trouble. Why couldn’t we have a real fight like the one sage mode Naruto had with Pein? I would have liked to see a chess-like tactic battle of wits and jutsus between Killerbee and Kisame; they’re both powerhouses and there’s so little we know of their true powers — it would make for a really interesting battle.

But alas, all we get is this underwater game of cat and mouse. Kisame’s water dome was in effect just a super-sized version of the water prison jutsu. I guess it’s the ideal technique to keeping your enemy trapped while incapacitating them at the same time; but does anyone else think how ironic it is that a shark is trying to drown an octopus? Given all the incredible Bijuu abilities and chakra at his disposal, who would have thought that Killerbee would not have the ability to breath underwater? The other thing I couldn’t wrap my head around was how they were talking underwater. You’d think that drowning outweighs any concern about maintaining communication, but then again I guess maintaining the flow of dialogue is pretty important too.

I enjoyed the scenes where Killerbee is talking to the Hachibi on their next move, this symbiosis is another reason why I really would like Naruto to form a similar relationship with Kyuubi if that ever becomes possible. The current Kyuubi sees Naruto’s body as a prison, but if he’d willing to recognize that he would benefit from a symbiotic relationship with Naruto, I think that would be an excellent level up for his growth. That said, it could very well be impossible in Naruto’s case as well. After Killerbee underwent a partial transformation to keep Kisame at bay with his tentacles, Kisame mentions that Killerbee is known as the “perfect host” — which probably explains why Killerbee’s Bijuu powers are so much more advanced than what we’ve seen in other Jinchuuriki. If that’s so, maybe Naruto will be unable to obtain this level of power with the Kyuubi if he does not possess a “perfect host” body. I know that Naruto is already pretty powerful now that he has sage mode, but it would be such a shame to allow all the potential that is Kyuubi go to waste. Some might say that tapping into Kyuubi’s chakra is going down the path to the dark side, but it was Minato who put that beast inside Naruto in the first place; even Minato admits that he did that in order to give Naruto the power to fight Madara in the future. Therefore I still believe, regardless of whatever sage abilities Naruto may develop in the future, he must come to terms with his Kyuubi powers if he hopes to defeat Madara.

I think we all saw that ink screen Killerbee used coming when we first saw him produce ink from his mouth in the last chapter. But like a shark drawn to blood, Kisame can smell Killerbee’s charka from miles away and takes him down even in the ink cloud. I had hoped that Killerbee would use anther tentacle clone to escape, but from the Hachibi’s comments it looks like it’s the real Killerbee who is lying helplessly in front of his enemy. Furthermore, Hachibi is even saying that his chakra has almost all been stolen by Samehada, that’s quite remarkable seeing how immense Bijuu charka levels are.

The most remarkable thing, of course, comes when Kisame is about to cut of Killerbee’s legs and his own sword Samehada turn on his master. It seems that Killerbee’s octopus flavoured chakra was so delicious that Samehada has decided to go with its stomach and side with Killerbee. The scene that follows is pretty epic: like a feral dog, Samehada bites the hand of the man that used to feed him to protect his future meal ticket; so much for shark-man’s best friend. And when Samehada actually has the audacity to begin transferring charka back to Killerbee, Samehada can’t take this betrayal any longer and punts the poor thing away. Seriously, that was the funniest thing I’ve seen in Naruto in quite a while (I miss the LOL-type humor that was so common in Naruto in the old days 😛 ). Who would of thought that Samehada would become Killerbee’s unlikely ally. Kisame’s still determined to catch his prey regardless, I only hope that the small opening Samehada provided for Killerbee is enough for him to stop Kisame.

Oh, and also, can anyone explain what those things coming out of Killerbee’s chest are when he partial transformed in this pic? I thought they may have come from Kisame but I don’t see any puncture holes in the next panel. So what are they?

  1. My two cents… Complete waste of a battle if Killerbee can’t go all out with Kisame… Also, upon first reading I too found it odd that a shark was trying to drown an octopus… Don’t care how u spin that, it’s just dumb… And the whole once you go black you won’t go back title was hella funny( to me anyways)… kinda lame, since i’mma brother, but funny none the less as it was coming from a guy name bob… lastly… naruto the manga will be a complete waste of time if naruto doesn’t learn how to coexist with the kyuubi similiar to the way the 8 tails and killerbee do… it’s an utter waste of a plot line if naruto doesnt evole with his bijuu…

  2. And I don’t kno… Maybe I missed someone’s post on the matter… But if the 9 tails is only half of its former self, with its yang chakra, or maybe it yin, not important at this juncture… Will it be possible, if Madara suceeds in capturing all the bijuu, to summonthe Juubi, if the most powerful of the 9 tailed beast is missing half of itself… Its essense so to speak….

  3. Those spikes were from Kisame’s arm, and did stick in his chest. But they didn’t go in far, and Killerbee is covered in a cloak of healing bijuu chakra, so they didn’t leave much of a mark.

  4. great chapter, samaheda is smart, a sharctopus would be an apex predator, whats next on the roster

  5. I thought they were his other 5 swords, but i could be wrong

  6. HEY EVERYONE … I MUST SAY ONE THING THAT DOES NOT HAVE CONECTION WITH TIHS CHAPTER ..
how the fuck kakuzu killed the first hokage and the first hokage defeateated madara , and madar is still alive … I mean the ballance of power is not good here , beceause kakuzu was killed by konoha ninjas

  7. nice post again Bob..i have a correction no offense..”And when Samehada actually has the audacity to begin transferring charka back to Killerbee, SAMEHADA can’t take this betrayal any longer and punts the poor thing away.”i think the word SAMEHADA should be Kisame..anyways..theories regarding Bee teaching Naruto in bonding with his bijuu might be a real thing if Bee survives..so lets keep our fingers crossed..

  8. @leo
Kakuzu wasnt Shodai Hashirama’s killer…i think naruto.wikia.org says Shodiame died in battle..Kakuzu only said he faced Hashirama..

  9. sorry for the wrong spelling of Shodaime in my former post..

  10. @sirius prime
my theory is that the Yin chakra that Yondaime Minato sealed was said to be the form of Kyuubi inside the prison inside Naruto..the Yang chakra being used is the chakra the Kyubi inside gives to Naruto..if the Yin chakra wasnt sealed Naruto mightve no control even at the one-tailed state…and Kakashi said during Naruto’s training with Yamato that they’ll be talking of Yin & Yang soon but they havent said a word yet..there are still levels that Kishimoto plans Naruto to go through to make him much stronger..

  11. it was a short fight but i believe this is not the last of killerbee or kisame i think they would both survive some how because gai still has to figure out who is kisame and he is the right person 2 defeat kisame

  12. @profess
wd Naurto it wouldve been a sharctofox

  13. In actuality, Lee is the perfect opponent for Kisame, he has no chakra to absorb. And, to counter Kisame fusing with Samehada all Lee has to do is drink some sake (still the funniest/coolest battle).

And I think this chapter showed just how smart Kisame is. I mean, he created the water prison for the sole purpose of making Hachibi be over-cautious so that he doesn’t hurt his friends. Kisame saw a “weakness” and exploited it, the way of a true ninja.

I would love to see Naruto have a relationship with Kyuubi but I don’t think its possible. First off, it is clear that Hachibi has removed the seal on his bijuu, that’s why when we see them talking, there is no cage. Second, the Kyuubi doesn’t respect Naruto at all and that seems to be the foundation between the 8-tails and Hachibi. I’ve said this before but I think that Naruto will have to beat the Kyuubi inside their consciousness in order to create this type of relationship. Or when Naruto and Madara face off (which is inevitable), Kyuubi will realize that the only way for him not to be controlled by the Sharingan is to work together with Naruto, since together they can’t be put under genjutsu.

  14. lee would be the perfect opponent for kisame……but would he win>>

  15. Not much to say on this chapter. Sharkskin turning on Kisame was definitely a surprise. But that was basiclly the only real plot twist this time. Bee should be happy, he gets a fancy new sword.

  16. @Bob: I’m not quite sure what those are, but if I had to guess, I’d say they’re spikes from Sharkskin, similar to the spines it shot out at Kisame when it was defending Killerbee.

  17. well i expected more from chapter too and likewise feel letdown. not much of a battle. the old man and his pet were in the way. killerbee had to fight underwater, where he wasn’t comfortable, and protect the weaklings as well. he was at too much of a disadvantage.

now i’m wondering exactly how much chakra samehada gave to killerbee before kisame came with his kick. it looked like samehada didn’t get to do much good.

  18. A few things I was thinkin about, I dont think the battle is over yet, its hard to tell how much chakra samehada was able to give bee, also killer bee is one of the best characters weve seen so far at misconception, dk if thats the right word, but he had sasuke believing that he had defeated him, and sasuke isnt one easily to be fooled in battle, as we seen in his fight with his brother, so I think its possible that he has a plan up his sleeve, if not, then just have to go by how much chakra samehada gave back, I think this fight is gonna be fight on more equal grounds since Kisame can no longer feed off other ppl chakra, so this will be kisames first true test, thats if bee isnt done for , and I dont think he is.

  19. and this is for anyone thats wondering why I said first true test, and I say that because first of all, all the oponents he fought so far that he has beatin, the sword was always stilling their chakra and basically giving Kisame an infint supply of chakras, no doubt he is still powerful guy, but since now he has to worry about how much chakra he uses now, and he has a fixed mount he want have the advantage like he has always

  20. @Sage

His name is “Hashirama Senju” not “Shodai Hashirama” unless you meant that was some sort of weird Japanese name, but whatever

  21. I think KB will try an ink clone right now, seeing as he is surrounded by ink. He might also send lightning into the sword as it cuts his legs, but I think most likely, kisame will win in the end, but KB will survive extraction (though lose his bijju). I see this happening by the haichibi getting sealed willingly to save bee

  22. I suspect Bee has an ink based jutsu up his sleeve… It would be,if anything, very convenient at this point… And I second billybob’s observation… Kisame may be falling into a trap…

  23. @MArt: This is out of subject, but if you haven’t gone back to the fic page, I’m not stopping the fic, I meant that I stopped the Squad arc.

    @Kisame’s falling into trap:

I Agree. Killerbee wouldn’t give up as quickly as that. He’s a powerful little…insect-octopus-“human” thing…He WILL have something interesting a devastating up his sleeve.

Maybe an ink jutsu or a full Hachibi transformation, if he can get his chakra back fully that is.

LOL@Kisame’s punt on Samehada! It looked like he was punishing him, lol XDXDXD. I miss that humor as well, oh *wipes tears of laughter from eyes*

  24. Oh, sorry@sage

  25. this was disapointing because it seems obvious to me that kisame is now as good as dead. he has lost his sword that gave him the power to heal and transform so all killerbee has to do is spin around and stab him and thats the end of kisame. =(
Really as funny as it was to see kisame punt the sword it was such a lame plot twist to save killerbee.

  26. I think sasuke has the yin chakra, cause remember what Karin said about his chakra being darker than the cursed mark. And i think that is chakra getting sucked out of Killer Bee by Kisame in that Scene.

  27. @Bob

Great Job, but there was a mistake that I just couldn’t let go…

“And when Samehada actually has the audacity to begin transferring charka back to Killerbee, SAMEHADA can’t take this betrayal any longer and punts the poor thing away.”

It was Kisame that punted the “poor thing” away…

Lolz, I sorry, I just love that mistake. (I really don’t know why I love it…)

Just thought you’d want to know…

  28. Actually Lee does have chakra (every shinobi does) but he cant use genjutsu or ninjutsu. So samehada can still absorb Lee’s chakra in battle.

  29. ok so killer bee is in a pretty bad position right now, but he is somewhat conscious after samehada gave him some chakra. and now that kisame isn’t weilding samehada, can he still regenerate? if not, one good shot from bee should be able to subdue him.

i just don’t see bee being captured here. if so, then that whole scene about the raikage figuring out that bee wasn’t in trouble, and all the events in response to that would be kind of pointless. it just isn’t kishi’s style, plus killerbee has had good response from the fans, kishimoto’s producers wouldn’t allow for him to be done in just yet.

  30. Thats true, but lee doesnt use his chakra in a way that samehada cant easily absorb it. he uses it in his muscles directly, with the chakra gates and everything. so yea samehada would be able to steal lee’s chakra, but the question is….would anyone be fast enough to use samehada in time? i really doubt it unless they had similiar abilites to lee.

and remember when Gai and Kisame fought? samehada didnt or couldnt get his chakra, when gai Stole samehada from Gai.

  31. sorry typo, i meant to say

“when gai stole samehada from kisame”

  32. I think Samehada’s powers were working, though because normal ninja’s chakra’s are lower than jinkuri’s, the effect is less noticable, it is also important to note that 1. Kisame was weakened in the gai fight (who the hell knows how that converts to samehada [who was also a fake at the time] ) 2. Kisame caught Lee in the water prison (he could do the same thing on a higher level again to slow Lee down) 3. he was able to keep up with Gai for most of the battle (until he unleashed the 6th gate I beleive) and seems fairly fast in fighting Bee, I think as the number of gates increased, Samehada would be able to steal more chakra also (because it is visable/being wasted much more)

  33. “can he still regenerate?” If you look at the last page, some of his wound from bee re-appeared, however I think Bee is down an out, and that enaka-ninjas will save him. (if they don’t all suck)

  34. @Mart, your wrong…..the only thing that can save bee now is the……..LAND OF IRON’S SUPER SAMURAI SQUAD LOL! (oh i couldn’t say that with a straight face lol, those Samurai are almost as useless as Sakura). On a serious note, I agree with you on the Guy fight. His chakra was so little (compared to Jinchuurikis) that Samehada didn’t care to absorb it, rather than couldnt. And since Kisame is about 3 times more powerful than the fake, it can be assumed that the fake Samehada wasn’t as good at absorbing chakra as the real-deal, i.e the real Samehada is about 3 times more powerful.

  35. Kisu. Who do you think would win in a battle of the useless: Enaka Ninjas, Samurai, or the Kunochi?

  36. well, the Samurai are so useless, I’d say even Sakura could beat them. And the Enka ninjas, I think they’d be weak too, considering Sabu is their leader (if im not mistaken). Yep I’d say it’d be a pretty long and drawn-out, boring battle (like Ino vs Sakura in the chunin Exams), but the Kunochi would win

  37. this is something neat i stumbled across http://www.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/lars.jpg Kishimoto designed that costume of Lars Alexander for Tekken 6

  38. Ah, I don’t know if anyone picked this up but in your last paragraph you called Kisame, Samehada
” And when Samehada actually has the audacity to begin transferring charka back to Killerbee, Samehada can’t take this betrayal any longer and punts the poor thing away.”

  39. stop making stupid peeps mistakes right. yo sama gona stab kisa in da back ihope

  40. okay first of all hay guys am BACK!yeah thats right it time to kick some butt!so back to naruto the killer bee and kisame batlle is geting stupid i am sorry it just is.the hole thing with the transfromation thing was weird it was like going back in time to when dragon ball z was still going.and you all know what i am talking about.the next chapters are going to be good the killer bee and kisame batlle is going to end soon.then we will get to see raikage talk to kakashi about war!then nsruto will get back on track and it will be all good again no more crappy fights!HAPPY DAYS!

  41. I was thinking, perhaps this will be the end of Samehada. I don’t know if Samehada can really move in it’s own, but perhaps it might jump in the way and deflect the blow from Kisame. I don’t really see Killerbee getting Samehada, nor do I see Samehada really be willing to go back to Kisame.

Of course, this doesn’t end things, but it buys Killerbee some time to wake up.

  42. Well, seems I spoke too soon. Some confirmed spoiles are up on Mangahelpers.

  43. @ ripcord, mind sharing the spoiler w/ me?

  44. Well JPUA, according to the spoilers….kisame literally loses his head, so samehada is without any owner now.

  45. I’ve seen the spoilers as well. So it looks like the story will be moving…. “A-HEAD”.

Sorry, I couldn’t help but say that, anyway can’t wait till it comes out.

  46. Its very clear why the sword protected killer bee. It has been since well before the fight. They always talk about how much chakra he had and how the sword loves charka. Clearly the sword was following Kisame because of his huge chakra. It basically obeys whoever has the most Chakra and since Kisame has “almost” as much as a bijuu but not as much it went to killer bees side who has more.

  47. Kisame dies?!

  48. the spoilers are great, i wont say much but everyone should read them

  49. the spoilers are great, i wont say much but everyone should read them, samaheda should follow naruto then his chakra is massive

  50. all spoiler discussion should be done in the forums, because not everyone likes to know whats gonna happen before it actually does. this is for talking about the current chapter and any topics that result from that discussion.

  51. I both agree and disagree with shikamaru: people have a right to ignorance, you shouldn’t talk about the content of the spoilers here, though it is important to note that it is okay to say “spoilers are out: (insert link here)” but past that is on the fence.

  52. thanks shikamaru, but what about the anime, it is at an exciting point but no one has posted a discussion yet on it or any of the recent ones either

  53. Yes but the anime is behind the manga, we know whats going to happen in the anime from the manga but not vice versa.

  54. I sometimes like 2 read some old chapters. But where d heck is volume 5-12. Pls someone shud reply me

  55. I like this fight it was nice. Pls does anyone know where chapter 37 is

  56. i called him Shodai Hasirama coz i was repecting him as Konoha’s founder…its like saying First Hokage Hashirama all-together coz Shodaime stands for “founding” as said in narutopedia…
